Blackhat NSFW Tumblr For Newbies

NSFW Tumblr

NSFW Tumblr 101

This is the most basic guide for starting a NSFW Tumblr blog. It’s a small section of a much larger guide. To learn everything there is about NSFW Tumblr, check out the full NSFW Tumblr How-To Guide. This will go through the basics of signing up for Tumblr, starting your first blog and configuring it. This will also be a basic walkthrough and tutorial on how Tumblr works.

Step 1) Email Account – The first step is registering an email account. I’ve made it a practice of starting an email account for each of the Tumblr blogs. I will also use that same email account for IFTTT (if using it for automation) or any other services associated to Tumblr that require email signup. I like to keep all this information in a spreadsheet to make the logins easier.

Gmail would be preferred if Google wasn’t so nosy about personal information. I prefer GMX, who is much more discrete and faster to signup for.

Register New Tumblr

Step 2) Register At Tumblr – A little obvious, but let’s go through it step-by-step. Go to Tumblr.com. Practically the only thing on the screen is the sign-up form, prompting you for 3 simple things; Email, Password and Username.

Your username is going to be your blog name, so make it something relevant to the niche you want (teen, lesbian, anal, gangbang, ect.)

Next screen will ask you how old (over 18, obviously) and make you accept the terms and agreement. Do that and hit next. You have successfully created a Tumblr blog. Wasn’t that difficult? As a note, you will have to check your inbox and verify the Tumblr account.

Step 3) Register at IFTTT. This will be used for automation down the road and covered in the NSFW Tumblr Automation section of the guide. I still prefer to register now, just so that way I can confirm the email for both services at once and never touch the email address again (keep it documented though).

Step 4) Configuring Tumblr – The next step will prompt you for an Avatar, Title and description. Your description is basically your blog name again. The avatar is incredibly important. Make sure it’s something either incredibly sexy or humorous. Humorous works best if done right. If it’s not done right, it probably won’t work at all.

If your Tumblr blog is a niche blog, make sure the avatar is relevant. If it’s a general “sexy” blog, this isn’t that important. All this stuff can be changed later so it’s not the biggest deal in the world. It’s definitely something worth putting some thought into.

Tumblr will prompt you to follow some blogs. I always follow more than they require right off the bat. I have a superstition that it will make the Tumblr algorithm think I’m more of a blogger than a blackhat and show the search faster. Probably doesn’t work that way, but it’s something I still do. More of this will be covered in the section on ramping up a Tumblr following.

Very important! Set blog as ‘NSFW’!

Flag Tumblr as NSFW

The quickest way to get your blog banned is not setting it as ‘NSFW’ (Not Safe For Work). This tells Tumblr that your blog is an adult blog and shouldn’t come up in search unless the “show adult material” is checked for each individual user. You can do this by clicking the “settings” icon at the top.

Tumblr Customization Menu

Customizing new blog – On the top of the right sidebar, you’ll see your blog name and an address below it. Click on the address to view the blog. On the “blog view”, in the top right will be a very small icon that says “customize”. Click it. That will bring up the blog customization screen on the left hand side of your screen.

This is where you choose your theme and configure your blog. It’s also how to place the adult advertisements on your new Tumblr blog. That’s something we’ll cover later on our section on making money off NSFW Tumblr.

You can change your theme and blog title at any point, as well as your avatar and other aspects of the blog theme.

Browse through the available blogs and choose one that suites you. You don’t have to be too particular, as this is easy to change at any point.
