Automated Vs Manual Posting – Adult Tumblr

When starting an adult Tumblr blog, an important topic to consider is whether to automate it or not. There’s good reasons to go either way. One of the better arguements against automation is that automation is technically against Tumblr’s TOS. On the other hand; “Everyone’s doin’ it, bro!” and it puts your Tumblr money on autopilot.

Here are some arguments both for and against Tumblr automation.

Benefits of Manual Tumblr Posting

1) Not against policy – Tumblr blatantly states; “Mass Registration or Automation. Don’t register accounts or post content automatically, systematically, or programmatically.” in their community policy. The strongest argument against automation is that automation itself is ground for banning.

2) Better control of content – When you manually upload your content, you’ve got greater control of whats on the blog. With automation, there are times where low quality or mistagged content can leak through.

3) Better tag control – With IFTTT, you can only set one group of tags per trigger. With other methods, there might be better tag control. With manual posting, there is complete tag control.

4) Click-through image link – With certain methods, such as IFTTT, images can’t contain click-through links. This is helpful for driving traffic to websites or the Tumblr blog itself. With manual posting, there is complete control of the click-through link and content source.

Benefits of Automated Posting

1) Turnkey – With automation, you don’t have to scrape the internet for content just to upload it one picture at a time. If you’ve got a good RSS feed, it’s easy enough to set it up and let it post.

2) No intervention needed – If the RSS is good and clean, you should be able to let the blog run it’s course.

3) Blog is easily replaceable – If your Tumblr autoblog gets banned, all you need to do is create a new one and setup the old blogs triggers and you’re back in business.

4) Blogs don’t get banned….Often – Tumblr blogs really don’t get banned that often anyway. When they do, it sucks. But you dust yourself off and get back in the game. Just look at the 3rd point, right above this one.

I’m not going to debate which is better. That is for you to decide. I’ve stated my points both ways, it’s for you to decide.
