Automating NSFW Tumblr Blog

Tumblr is a great way to add some extra residual income to your pockets. Since the blog requires no hosting, it’s also a 100% free. That means you can easily convert the blog into a residual revenue stream without investing a dime. Of course, there’s always the investment of time. That is why automation can be such a powerful tool!

There are many methods to automating a Tumblr blog. Which ones work best is highly dependent on a number of things. Some methods might be more effective, but could also require building up other web presences, ect.

Automate NSFW Tumblr Using IFTTT

IFTTT is by far the easiest and most “turnkey” method. IFTTT stands for “If This Then That”. It works with if/then statements. What that means is you setup a trigger and a response. For NSFW Tumblr automation the trigger will most likely be RSS (or WordPress). The action will be posting a photo to Tumblr.

Warning – If the trigger does not contain a photo, IFTTT will post an ugly message stating that it can’t find a photo on the item. You don’t want to spam your followers blog with these placeholder images. It’s ugly and obnoxious.

IFTTT with RSS for trigger – This is the simplest method to get your Tumblr blog rocking on autopilot. First you need to find the proper RSS feeds. We’ve got an entire section on Finding RSS Feeds For NSFW Tumblr Autoblogs (soon) that can steer you in the right direction.

The process is very simple:

IFTTT Trigger

Step 1) Register a new account and create a new “recipe”. First we’ll have to set our “trigger” (“This).

RSS Feed Trigger

Step 2) As mentioned previously, we’ll be using RSS feeds as the trigger. Select the RSS icon out of the huge list of networks and services.

IFTTT New Feed Item

Either option works. If you want the item from every new post, just go with “New Feed Item”. To be more targeted; “New Feed Item That Matches”.

Step 3) Enter the desired RSS feed here. You will have to create a new trigger for each RSS feed you want to “scrape” photos from.

Step 4) Now that we’ve got our trigger (this) it’s time to set our action (that).

Tumblr IFTTT

Select Tumblr from the long list of IFTTT products and services.

Tumblr IFTTT Action

Step 5) Now it’s time to configure the action within Tumblr. We’ll want to make it a photo post.

Configure Tumblr Posts

Here is where you can tweak the description and tags used on the post.

Hit create action and you’re finished! As you can see, it only takes 9 mouse clicks (once on IFTTT website) to setup the IFTTT automation. From there on out, you’ve got a money-making blog that will work on autopilot. Remember though, first you do have to find the right feeds. This is very important to ensure quality content and a quality adult Tumblr blog.

NextScripts: Social Network Auto Poster (SNAP)

NextScripts is a WordPress plugin. For this trick to work, we will need to build a WordPress website. Don’t worry, it’s incredibly easy to do. All the steps are explained on the linked-to page above. NextScripts is a little more complicated to setup, but is much more robust in certain ways.

Configuring Nextscripts for Tumblr

Step 1) Creating Tumblr app – Don’t let this sound complicated and overwhelming. It’s really as simple as clicking buttons. I’ll spare you the trouble of navigating the developer portal. Go to this page. The information you provide really isn’t that relevant. All we’re really after is the “consumer key” and “secret key”. This is what we enter into NextScripts so that the two platforms can communicate together.

Step 2) Enter keys in NextScripts – Once you submit the information and “create your app” (You’re a developer now, pat yourself on the back!) take those two keys and enter them into NextScripts. You’ll have to authenticate your Tumblr account and give Nextscripts the permission to post on your behalf.

Step 3) Post to WordPress – Now everytime a post is made in WordPress, the first picture will be posted to Tumblr as well.

IFTTT Vs Nextscripts For Adult Tumblr

The main advantage to NextScripts over IFTTT is that NextScripts gives the option for click-through links on images. This is something that IFTTT doesn’t do. NextScripts also has the ability to select a “default image” if no image can be found. This enables you to at least post an image of a sexy girl instead of the IFTTT “No image found”. With Nextscripts, it’s also possible to create an Endless NSFW Tumblr Automation Cycle. Explanation on the linked-to page.

IFTTT is definitely easier to setup. If a Tumblr blog gets banned (which yes, they do. Suck it up) I find it easier to replace it using IFTTT. All you have to do is create a new Tumblr account and swap out the blogs within IFTTT. If you do it correctly, all the recipes will remain in-tact. You will lose the following, but at least it’s replacement is completely turnkey.
